Best Overall
Kensington Combination Cable T-Bar Standard Lock, K64673AM
Our verdict: A resettable 4-wheel combination lock with 10,000 combinations and Acer-named compatibility.
This Kensington lock uses a standard T-bar and a resettable 4-wheel dial with 10,000 combinations. Kensington lists Acer compatibility for the standard slot, and says the lock is independently torque and pull tested.
It takes first place because a combination lock removes the one problem that makes keyed locks annoying: a key you will eventually lose. Because you can reset the code, you set a number you will remember. The independent pull testing is a useful reassurance for a $25 to $50 product. The cost is a thicker lock head, which may crowd an adjacent port on some thin laptops.
Buy it if your Acer has the standard T-bar slot. Skip it if your laptop has a Nano slot.
